The eleven Artists who have been selected Internationally will work alongside each other to produce new work in cast iron using traditional and experimental processes, culminating in a Public Iron Pour and Exhibition. Artists learn from each other by living and working together in the critically engaged environment created by the symposium. Technical demonstrations and artists presentations are scheduled throughout the symposium and its unique site.
Salem Art Works is an independent artists center and sculpture park, situated 200 miles north of NYC on 120 acres of rolling hillsides, surrounded by thick woods, running streams, ponds, pastures and rustic outbuildings reflecting its history as a working dairy farm.
